Happy Memorial Day
The Wing Nuts want to thank all the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen and Coast Guardsmen for everything they have done for this country. Please take a moment during your bbq and beer drinking to remember the men and woman that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and why you have the day off from work.

A ride taken by one is still.....
a ride. Well know one took me up on my ride offer today, so I went at it alone. Just me and the Flathead. I took a nice long loop through Santa Clarita, Agua Dulce and Acton. Rode Sierra Hwy and Escondido Cyn. It was a relaxing spin and the Flattie performed well despite a little neglect on my end. The culmination of my ride was an interesting one at that and thing thing that may gain more response next time. I stopped at Vasquez Rocks to enjoy the view. I often ride there to take in the scenery, look for Vasquez' gold and ride a dirt road. But today I was in for an even greater spectical. As I parked in the far end of the lot, I observed a group of four young women trying desperately to start a portable generator. Since I like watching people attempt simple tasks and fail I decided to watch. They finally got the generator started and plugged in the only appliance they had. A hair curler! All that for a hair curler was crazy to me. Then it struck me, they were going to do a photo shoot. So now I was really interested and began to pay close attention. After dollying up the red head, they took off over the rocks. Well naturally I followed on foot and to my surprise, ole Red was buck naked! She was posing naked there on the rocks. They quickly spotted me and began talking loudly about my presence. How dare they try to make me feel bad! It was a public park and the spectators on the rock formations proved it. So after 30 minutes or so of watching, I left. So next time I ask who wants to go on a ride, I expect more takers. By the way Dave, I gave her your card.

Ride anyone?
Anyone feel like going on a ride Sunday? Let me know we can pick a meet location and a time. Nothing big, just grab a meal or something.
I believe this is Abe as well.

A little help....again. Ohio Racers
Ok once again I call upon the masses to help identify these riders. Specifically the middle rider. All's I know is this. Post war evident by the Hudson in the background, so at least 48. Possibly into the early 50's. This is also in Ohio. The riders participated in hillclimbs and flat track. This one is important so please help to identify these fellers.

I received and email today from Ed Evans, Ted's son. Ted is now 91 and spending his days on Facebook. The family would love for people to go on Facebook and share stories and pictures. Just go onto Facebook and do a search for TED EVANS MOTORCYCLES. There are some pretty cool pictures up already.

Motor Maid, Cops and a Biker
I started with the LAPD, Motor Transport Division in June 1966. I worked as a civilian in the motorpool at Parker
Center. It wasn't named that as William Parker was still the Chief. I enjoyed seeing Jack Webb come by from time to time to visit with our Chief. A pretty exciting place to work for an 18 year old.
Well I remember a Motormaid that worked parking enforcement on a trike, who rode to work every day on a 1950's green panhead dresser. She parked at the end of a car parking area in the lower level. All who rode to work on civilian bikes were allowed to park there for free......... Well it was mid 1966 and I was watching all the
officers and employees intently. Lots of stuff to see. I remember seeing two 220 lb motor officers bitching to each other that they weren't going to get one of the new, electric start bikes..............And I remember that little 5 foot tall Motormaid, at the time in her late 40's. She finished her shift each day about 3 pm and kicked her
panhead to life with no problem or complaint. And I remember thinking that those two, big, officers were whining...............I hope they didn't do it in public. Not a pretty sight... I soon decided that trying for the academy, like my pop wanted me to...........was not in the cards... I didn't like the attitudes and macho BS.... Lots of cool cops, but lots of jerk cops. I liked the garage, the bikes and cars. I didn't much care for firearms..........or wrestling idiots into submission. At the time I weighed 160 lbs dripping wet.........
I always remember the red headed Motormaid and her green panhead. She seemed very cool for a lady old enough to be my mom.......

Cool story. Wish I knew who sent it to me. I thought I'd share it with all of you.
