Desert Sledd Jedd!?
This is my new toy. A 1965 T100SC. This is the baby brother of the famous desert sled TR6. It's the factory desert racer made for the So Cal desert scene. I din't know for sure what the "SC" stands for, so I'm going with SO CAL baby! I still need to do a few more mods. I need a Bates desert or TT seat (help!). I've got a remote aircleaner, just need to fab up a bracket. Most likely going to remove the lights, but it has an original black and yellow plate and I like to display that so I may keep the rear light. I've already taken it all over the dirt near my house and it's a blast.
"Bus" Schaller Fuel Injected Knucklehead!
How cool is this! I like vintage race and speed modifications. They are not often the prettiest of modifications, but it's there crudeness and remarkable engineering that makes them so neat. We've visited Bus Schaller before, so here's a little more for the file. And by the way, the first one to do this with their motor wins a free Wing Nuts T-shirt. Now how's that for motivation!

Hey! Anyone know where I parked my bike?
Now if I had to choose whether to be a Beetle or a Black Rebel, clearly I'd be a Beetle. Chino seemed to be more fun to hang around than Johnny. Too moody for me! As much as I like Chinos apparel, you've got to admit Johnny really has the classic biker look. I'm diggin' Johnny's look as well. So here it is a new poll. Beetle or Black Rebel. You decide.

Jack "Shark" Jordan
Through the NLAMC I made a Sharks sweater and posted it up a while back. Guess some folks saw it and thought we were trying to take advantage of someone. Nothing could be further from the truth. We just thought that since the Sharks were no longer around and very little existed on their history, we'd try to help preserve it. I just got off the phone with Jack Jordan and we talked it all out. I explained some stuff. He explained some stuff. We then had a great conversation about the Sharks MC, 40s clubs, bikes, Wing Nuts and the NLAMC. Jack is a good guy! A true gentleman. We talked for about 45 minutes. Bench racing and shooting the shit. I feel I've gained a friend and I know he has gained a friend in me. We plan on meeting up next time I'm in Nor Cal so we can finish the conversation. So please don't perpetuate the anger. It's been worked out by all parties involved. And by the way, the Sharks Sweater is no longer for sale.

Indian Hill Climber
Who really needs a helmet? When I started riding it was optional out here in California. Never really wore one. Just didn't look right to me. I guess always staring at these old picture, you just never saw them unless they were racing. I've really enjoyed watching "cool guy" helmet trends out here. Started with the plastic beanie. Moved to the 3/4 metal flake. Seems to be a lot of guys wearing full faced modern jobs. What's next? Can't wait to see.

Seems everyone is serious about their Harley
Bates oil label.
I've posted a label like this before, but never really told the story. I got this label from Bob McMillen. The reason he had it was simple. He owned the company that made the oil for Bates. He made the oil, they provided the label and there you go Bates Oil. It seems like old riders were truly jacks of all trades!

Bob's Von Dutch Helmet
Bob McMillen,,,,Yellow Jacket and nice guy.
I've spoke of Bob before and I finally had the chance to meet with him last month. He is truly a gentleman and a nice guy. We spoke for hours and he showed us around his machine shop. He told us some great stories to include one that still blows my mind. When Bob was a Yellow Jacket in the late 40s he lived down in the Wilmington area. For those of you not familiar with Los Angeles, it lies on the south west portion of this giant spread out city. Bob used to ride his VL, the one pictured above, to the San Fernando Valley. The Valley at the time was mostly agricultural, so it was like a day in the country. Now this may not seem like a big feat, but the kicker is this. He rode across the city without using any roads! Even in the 40s Los Angeles was pretty built up so this was quite a trip. As I drive around the city on a day to day basis, I look around and I'm amazed. As you may have already guessed, I amaze easily. Bob showed us his original helmet he used for racing. It was painted by a young fellow named Von Dutch. Bob could only afford a few bucks for the paint job, so he had to pass on the flying eyeball Dutch was known for. Bob decided to paint his own, so he painted a running eyeball on the helmet. Now all you low moral characters out there don't get any ideas. I made sure Bob knew the value of the helmet!
