Both the guys featured in this clip are gone now, but I once asked Mr. C.R. Saville about it while he was still alive, and he claimed they never fell down while learning to perform that stunt. They were already good at standing up on the seat of their Indians by the time the started using the ladder. He also said they had to be moving about 40 mph to do it.
