Desert Sledd Jedd!?

This is my new toy. A 1965 T100SC. This is the baby brother of the famous desert sled TR6. It's the factory desert racer made for the So Cal desert scene. I din't know for sure what the "SC" stands for, so I'm going with SO CAL baby! I still need to do a few more mods. I need a Bates desert or TT seat (help!). I've got a remote aircleaner, just need to fab up a bracket. Most likely going to remove the lights, but it has an original black and yellow plate and I like to display that so I may keep the rear light. I've already taken it all over the dirt near my house and it's a blast.

Go! Go! Go!

"Bus" Schaller Fuel Injected Knucklehead!

How cool is this! I like vintage race and speed modifications. They are not often the prettiest of modifications, but it's there crudeness and remarkable engineering that makes them so neat. We've visited Bus Schaller before, so here's a little more for the file. And by the way, the first one to do this with their motor wins a free Wing Nuts T-shirt. Now how's that for motivation!

Check it out! Should be a great show.

Hey! Anyone know where I parked my bike?

Now if I had to choose whether to be a Beetle or a Black Rebel, clearly I'd be a Beetle. Chino seemed to be more fun to hang around than Johnny. Too moody for me! As much as I like Chinos apparel, you've got to admit Johnny really has the classic biker look. I'm diggin' Johnny's look as well. So here it is a new poll. Beetle or Black Rebel. You decide.

Jack "Shark" Jordan

Through the NLAMC I made a Sharks sweater and posted it up a while back. Guess some folks saw it and thought we were trying to take advantage of someone. Nothing could be further from the truth. We just thought that since the Sharks were no longer around and very little existed on their history, we'd try to help preserve it. I just got off the phone with Jack Jordan and we talked it all out. I explained some stuff. He explained some stuff. We then had a great conversation about the Sharks MC, 40s clubs, bikes, Wing Nuts and the NLAMC. Jack is a good guy! A true gentleman. We talked for about 45 minutes. Bench racing and shooting the shit. I feel I've gained a friend and I know he has gained a friend in me. We plan on meeting up next time I'm in Nor Cal so we can finish the conversation. So please don't perpetuate the anger. It's been worked out by all parties involved. And by the way, the Sharks Sweater is no longer for sale.

Homebrew Triumph Racer April 1953

This Triumph looks a lot like the BSA single I posted earlier. Sprung hub, bobbed fender, p-pad and the most important accessory THE TROPHY! She may not be much to look at, but she goes like stink! Maybe the race was between the Beezer and the Two Piecer Triumph.

Cry Baby!

Tell me he's not crying. There's no crying in dirt track motorcycle racing! Maybe he's sneezing or wiping the blood and guts off his face.

Indian Hill Climber

Who really needs a helmet? When I started riding it was optional out here in California. Never really wore one. Just didn't look right to me. I guess always staring at these old picture, you just never saw them unless they were racing. I've really enjoyed watching "cool guy" helmet trends out here. Started with the plastic beanie. Moved to the 3/4 metal flake. Seems to be a lot of guys wearing full faced modern jobs. What's next? Can't wait to see.

Mike Parti- 1966 Lions Drag Strip

I borrowed this photo from another site, but I had to. Mike Parti is a great guy and always willing to lend the greatest tool at his disposal....his mind! He's a friend of ours and a living legend.

Seems everyone is serious about their Harley

Seems as though everyone was very serious about their machine. I doubt I have one picture of me being serious. They're only motorcycles!

Bates oil label.

I've posted a label like this before, but never really told the story. I got this label from Bob McMillen. The reason he had it was simple. He owned the company that made the oil for Bates. He made the oil, they provided the label and there you go Bates Oil. It seems like old riders were truly jacks of all trades!

stripped down little racer

The BSA (?) single looks stripped down and ready to rock. The photo looks pretty early almost pre drag race era yet this little bastard looks ready to run the 1320.

Indian stunt riders

How many times do you think these guys dumped that Indian Four before getting this act down?

Custom Triumph circa 1954?

How cool is this Triumph with it's Watsonian scallops and matching seat. It looks as though it has Flanders battery cover and a bunch of other period goodies.

Hail to the Chief

Haven't posted an Indian in a while. I've been on a Triumph kick lately. Enjoy!

Bob's Von Dutch Helmet

This is Bob's original race helmet from when he was a Yellow Jacket. It was painted by Von Dutch. The running eyeball was Bob's touch. Yellow and Black, cool colors. Hey those are the Wing Nut colors!

Bob McMillen,,,,Yellow Jacket and nice guy.

I've spoke of Bob before and I finally had the chance to meet with him last month. He is truly a gentleman and a nice guy. We spoke for hours and he showed us around his machine shop. He told us some great stories to include one that still blows my mind. When Bob was a Yellow Jacket in the late 40s he lived down in the Wilmington area. For those of you not familiar with Los Angeles, it lies on the south west portion of this giant spread out city. Bob used to ride his VL, the one pictured above, to the San Fernando Valley. The Valley at the time was mostly agricultural, so it was like a day in the country. Now this may not seem like a big feat, but the kicker is this. He rode across the city without using any roads! Even in the 40s Los Angeles was pretty built up so this was quite a trip. As I drive around the city on a day to day basis, I look around and I'm amazed. As you may have already guessed, I amaze easily. Bob showed us his original helmet he used for racing. It was painted by a young fellow named Von Dutch. Bob could only afford a few bucks for the paint job, so he had to pass on the flying eyeball Dutch was known for. Bob decided to paint his own, so he painted a running eyeball on the helmet. Now all you low moral characters out there don't get any ideas. I made sure Bob knew the value of the helmet!

Jason's 1952 Triumph

I never did get a chance to post this before, but Jason has a neato 52 Triumph. Very cool period custom. MCM fork covers, side mount headlight, Bates style seat and my favorite...the rear stand. I need to get me one of those, but I'm too cheap.

More hillclimb action with the Jack Rabbits MC

Eddie Ryan Harley Davidson Shop

Eddie Ryan's shop and the "gang" in the late 20's. Pretty cool picture. Do you think they were holding X games behind the shop with the giant half pipe made out of dirt?

Looks like Wes got the best of 100 mph this year. Way to go Wes! Sadly no record. I mean it Wes, you can't come home.

Sinners MC

Cool photo of some original Sinners. I wish I could get the new guys to buy some sweaters. Cheap bastards!

1956 Triumph Trophy

This James Dean tribute bike came up on ebay a little while ago and I couldn't resist. Yep you guessed it! I stole the photos. Enjoy.

Steve McQueens Desert Racer Triumph

This is my new kick. I want to build one of these badly!

This beautiful Panhead Bobber belongs to our friend Billy in Arizona. He's riding to Davenport this year. Billy's the man!

Jack Rabbits MC going up

Bonneville Bound

Well it's that time of year again when Wing Nut Wes heads off to Bonneville in search of the record. He should have had his first runs today. Wes we wish you the best of luck and if you don't break a record don't bother coming home!
