Ummm...I'm not one to argue. Debate, yes, but not argue. First off if you read his jacket it says Tulare Raiders MC. That was the first giveaway. Second, we are all aware that another picture of this guy made it's way into life magazine sometime around...I don't know....1947. We also all know it was pretty much a staged photo. What I don't know is that it is a BFMC picture. What does that mean? Is the man in the photo a Boozefighter? If so who? AS any follower of the site knows we (I) am a fan of the Boozefighter history as am I a fan of the 13 Rebel, Sharks, Yellow Jackets, etc. In fact there were most likely more than one club present in July of 1947 in Hollister. So that poses the question again, does anyone know anything about the Tulare Raiders MC?

That is NOT a Boozefighter's photo. As of one year ago he was in his 80's and living in a small town between Stockton and Modesto California. I was going to interview him for one of my article's but have not done so as of yet. He was a member of the Tulare club. Every town up and down the valley had one or two clubs. Yes, many clubs were at Hollister in '47. Alot of them were from the Bay area and all over Norcal. Top Hatters, San Jose Dons, Stockton M/C, Fort Sutter M/C, Capitol City M/C, San Francisco M/C, the list goes on and the Boozefighters from Socal as well. If you want to know about the early original boozefighters come to the Dixon swap meet dinner this year. Craig Taylor is going to talk about his grandfather, John "Two-Cam" Cameron and the original Boozefighters. I'm doing the display boards now as we speak. John's personal photo album is on my knees. Over and out!

Thanks for the back up Doc. So that's where you've been hiding yourself.

That photo is said to be of an inebriated Tulare resident, Eddie Davenport, who had just staggered out of Johnny's Bar when asked to pose on the bike. BTW, that Tulare Raiders MC jacket has "DAVE" on the bottom. AFAIC, that's not Eddie's bike nor it is his jacket.

Danny and Daniel (if you are two different people) I don't know anything more than what has been posted. I'll hit up Doc Sprocket and ask him if he ever did the interview.

I am amazed at how such an iconic photo has basically been so high viz but so low key at the same time. I am an avid motorcycle enthusiest but am not assoiciated with any movement per say. I was raised in Tulare and this photo has always intrigued me just for that alone.
