The rider is Elliot Schultz on the big head Royal Enfield "Fury". He is also rider #27 in the following post. This post shows his number with the suffix "X" denoting his junior status. His Pro number being 27. Number 27R is Mel Lacher on a KR. Both “R” and “X” suffix denote California riders. The first photo (20x) should date from 1963 which is the last year before he got a pro number. The second photo was taken at Ascot Park, most likely 1964. The “Hell Motors” is really “Shell Motors” referring to Shell Thuett, better known for his work with Yamahas. That crazy RE is in Dan Rout’s museum in Clovis CA. Love your blog. A great many photos I have never seen. Thank you.

Bothell Motors - Lynnwood (WA)... maybe
Great looking Enfield! And yes, Hell Motors sounds sufficiently threatening.
