He rode for Joe Sarkee's and Vern Gardener's Triumph. Sarkee's in Sacramento and Vern was in Oakland I believe. At Belmont in the Bay Area he was King in the late 40's. He was a great racer.

Great info on Shorty. Thanks.

As for the sweater, I hear them boys at NLAMC make a pretty nice sweater. Check em out off the links. I happen to know they have Triumph, Indian and Harley sweaters available right now.

A friend of mine had one hero when he was a child and this man is Shorty Tomkins and as of last nite Shorty still is his hero.My friends name is Carl Tresser,he is the Dad of the late ANDY TRESSER NAT#91.I have talked Carl into going to THE CALISTOGA 1/2 MILE July 31 2010.Carl told me a (long)story I will make short. He had his bedroom walls full of Shortys pictures and to this day wishes he still had those pictures.
I don't know if Shorty is still alive,I'd give almost anything to get Carl a signed picture. If he has passed I'm just trying to get some copies of pictures. Please if anybody can help me my email is
perri56y@live.com We will both be at the Calistoga 1/2 Mile.My name is Mitch"Buck"Perri. You can ask Carol Swanson,Rod lake,Jimmy Odom,John Proto or Steve Lacey if they have seen me. THANK YOU
