hello this is debra dorresteyn. richards daughter. i have been trying to get any info i can on my father. i have some pics. from my mother. i would like to learn more about him. for my children. thanks debra.
Nice Photo- looks like 1953 or 1954 Richie has an amateur plate and it looks like he is riding a TR5. They say he an Kenny Plain invented riding the "wheelie" at the Richmond Ramblers clubhouse in the early 1950's
i used to go to belmont every friday night with my parents. we usually sat with hal silva's wife. you could usually find me playing in the big dirt hill next to the stands (i was a little kid at the time). my dad did an ink drawing of your dad doing that wheelie with lots of autographs on it. i'll see if i can track it down for you if you're interested. you'll probably think this isfunny but i called my pillow dickie-had a terrible crush at the time. great memories. married a rider-lane hall. so sorry about yo0ur dad=broke my heart too. call if you'd like= sue=479 841 3767
I had the honor of shaking your Fathers hand and we did a little bench racing . I knew his Brother Bill and Wife Ginny pretty well . All those guys have 10 years or more on me, so i never rode with them since i was just a Pup . I knew Ivan 'Gene' Miller and Sons very well . Mr Miller was also a Wheelstand King at Point Richmond and I've seen a photo of him and your Dad Doing a wheelstand side by side by the Rambler Clubhouse . Mr Miller is gone too so i have no idea where the photo is . All those guys were what inspired me to ride their style . God Love em' All .
